Superstars – The Musical

It’s October 1975, and 11-year-old misfits, Rudolf Ramsbottom and his best mate Piggy Bowles have a dream. They dream of writing a hit record and appearing on Top Of The Pops. They get an unexpected opportunity, when pop star MC Flash asks his fans to send him lyrics, which he will then turn into a song. Rudolf and Piggy decide to enter and ask Rudolf’s mum, Mary to help. Although the boys are devastated when they don’t win the competition, they soon cheer up when they get invited to perform at the school Christmas concert.

The boys get teased and bullied at school, cos they look different from the other kids. That makes them even more determined to be successful. Rudolf is in love with Mandy Grey, a girl in his class at school. He gives her a packet of love hearts, and writes her a personal note. He reluctantly agrees to meet her at the local cricket pavilion. However, it doesn’t turn out as expected, and he’s left nursing a broken heart.
